about
Having been four years since I released a solo album titled, 'I Would Throw My Arms Around You' - in the meantime only publishing the occasional Manhatta demo track (more on that later) - I felt it was time to let you hear some more music, based firmly in the singer-songwriter camp. That said, all funds from the sale of this single will go towards the CD production of a full-length album, to be released under the band-name Manhatta. The album, which is more-or-less finished, represents my more experimental side, though still accessible and with the same composition and production values as work released here.
Don't let the commercially-driven media tell you what to listen to. Thank you for supporting truly independent music!
lyrics
Big bad wolf suit on the floor
I’ll sleep in my own skin
You OK with that?
There was a fire at the store
I said no worshippers got hurt
It was good to see you laugh
But what you want I can’t supply
And what I need, you won’t
So I hold onto the part of you that didn’t leave
And settle for the compensating storm
Don’t make me your poster child
For all you consider wrong
That nervous noise that swills inside you
By any metric this thing is messed-up
Pressed hard against your tank stops
And you just say “it’s another day”
But what you want I can’t supply
And what I need, you won’t
So I hold onto the part of you that didn’t leave
And settle for the compensating storm
Aeroplanes in the sixties
What happened?
We were so damn elegant then
Now I’m such a bloody mess
And here you come
In your black rainsoaked dress
And what you want I can’t supply
And what I need, you won’t
So I hold onto the part of you that didn’t leave
And settle for the compensating storm
